8 Ways To Find DoFollow Blogs

One of the best ways to get quality backlinks is by commenting on blogs, particularly blog posts with high PageRank (PR). However, there are two types of blogs for commenting. They are dofollow and nofollow.
What's the difference between dofollow and nofollow blogs?
Nofollow links in a comment do not pass PageRank while dofollow do. Now, there's an ongoing debate whether nofollow links help SEO. Some webmasters claim that nofollow links do help SEO while other webmasters say otherwise.
At the end of the day, if I have a choice between commenting on a dofollow blog and a nofollow blog, I'll opt for the dofollow (assuming all else is equal such as PR for the respective URLs).
So, the question is: How do you find blogs that have dofollow links enabled?
There are several methods you can use to find blogs with dofollow links enabled.
1. Search in Google.
When you do this search you'll discover blog posts that list blogs that enable dofollow comments. The problem with these blog lists is you're not the only person commenting on these blogs. Worse yet, usually once the SEO community discovers a blog is dofollow, there's an ambush of spam comments (called spamments). When this happens, many webmasters turn comments to nofollow. My point is many blogs on these lists available to all are usually nofollow by the time you discover the blogs.
2. Purchase dofollow blog lists.
Because there's a cost to these lists, fewer people use them. However, in my experience, many of these purchased lists are still spammed to death because there's no oversight on the commenting quality. Like number 1 above, many of the blogs on purchased lists soon switch their commenting to nofollow fairly quickly.
If you buy such a list, when possible, look for lists with limited distribution and that they are current.
3. Browse internet marketing forums.
Warrior Forum often has posters who list blogs with dofollow links enabled. You may have to search around a bit, but they're there. The problem here is the same problems as numbers 1 and 2 above - namely these blogs get ambushed with spam and the dofollow is changed to nofollow quickly.
4. Search for blogs with CommentLuv plugin installed.
CommentLuv plugin is fantastic for both bloggers and blog commenters. It's great for commenting because it places a link to your blogs latest blog post and in my experience many bloggers permit dofollow links to your blog. It's great for bloggers because there's a tremendous built-in incentive for people to leave a comment (especially if the commenter publishes a blog).
How do you find blogs with the CommentLuv plugin?
I did a search in the ComLuv Network and it did retrieve many blogs by keyword using the CommentLuv plugin.
The only downside to this approach is the search results don't tell you the PR of the blog. You have to go into each blog if you're seeking high PR URLs on which to comment.
5. Use other search platforms that locate blogs with dofollow links enabled.
InlineSEO offers a dofollow search engine as well. I tested it and it indeed retrieved dofollow commenting blogs by keyword.
If you search in Google "how to find dofollow blogs" you'll likely find other such dofollow search platforms. Try them out and those that generate the results you want, then use them.
6. Buy or download software that generates lists of blogs with dofollow comments enabled.
I've used Comment Kahuna and Market Samurai to find dofollow comment blogs. Comment Kahuna didn't work at all (it's free, so I have no beef with it). Market Samurai is an outstanding keyword and competition software application, but it's not that great in providing dofollow blog commenting opportunities. I have Market Samurai and don't bother using their dofollow blog search.
I haven't tried every software application that claims to locate blogs with dofollow, so I can't say there isn't a good option. However, I've been disappointed with my two efforts at using software, so I don't bother.
That said, for people who are very technical, there is software that will locate dofollow blogs, but I'm not terribly technical and so it's beyond my abilities and inclination. Apparently it involves using proxies and software called scrapebox, but I've never bothered. If this approach appeals to you, then I suggest researching it further.
7. Reverse engineer the dominant websites in your niche.
This is one of my favorite methods for finding dofollow blogs and other linking opportunities. Here's what you do. Search in Google with the main keywords in your niche. Note the top 10 (or 5 or 20, it doesn't matter) website URLs. Then go to Yahoo! Site Explorer and display the incoming links to that particular URL. Go to each URL, especially if it's a blog (indicated often by the word "blog" in the title), and then go to those blogs.
Likely you'll find some gems where you can place a dofollow comment. An added bonus is locating other linking opportunities such as website directories, article directories, guest post opportunities, Web 2.0 properties, etc.
Note that this approach is trial and error. Not every website you check out that links to your competitors will have dofollow comments. However, if the links are showing up for your competitor, there's a chance you can get a link.
8. Subscribe to an exclusive, limited dofollow blog membership.
I like several of the methods above (particularly numbers 4, 5, and 7) and do them regularly, but my favorite method to find dofollow blogs is subscribing to an exclusive monthly dofollow blog list membership. This type of membership limits the number of people who gain access to a list.
More importantly, a quality dofollow blog subscription service will monitor the comments made and prohibit auto-commenting with software. Violators are removed from the membership. This oversight maintains the integrity of the comments and increase the chances the blogs retain dofollow commenting.
